Vidiyal Child Rights Movement

Networking

Networking is an increasingly important part of Vidiyal's Child Rights Movement. Through local, regional and national forums, Vidiyal children are in active dialogue with other child rights movements across India.

The National Movement of Working Children:

Vidiyal was a founding member of the National Movement of Working Children – India (NMWC – India). The NMWC is a national federation of working children’s organisations and unions in India. It acts as a common platform to uphold children’s rights and solve the causes of child labour.

The movement was formed on November 20th 1999. This day was chosen to mark the 10th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The CR4WSF

The Vidiyal Child Rights Movement attended the World Social Forum in 2004, as a member of the Group on Children’s Rights in a Globalizing World, a committee of the World Social Forum, 2004 (CR4WSF). The CR4WSF is an umbrella group that includes organizations of children and networks and alliances working for children’s rights in India and other regions.  The group seeks to make a coordinated attempt to reflect the centrality of children in the agenda of development with justice and to engage actively in ensuring that the conception of Another World is child centered, with children having a role in defining and determining it.
